Cymbal, I think you mean.

Unless you are referring to him dressing as a Nazi for a joke. Prince Harry obviously a fan!

He used far too much symbol during play imho

Re: Keith Moon
loved him, he was great to watch and loved his biography but it must have taken a lot patience to play with him. I have a couple of full concert dvds and it's always funny watching townsend looking over at him with a mixture of anger and amusement

Re: Keith Moon
Find it odd Hunt, that you don't rate him. He was loose, unorthodox, clearly had mental problems. But, fucking hell, could he drum!

https://youtu.be/NJH8DmPfVmU

Even if going back to that era, John Bonham was just a big heavy metronome. Moon seemed to be playing a solo gig in his head! Every 10 seconds. Astonishing, unhinged talent. And astonishing idiot. Shame.

Re: Keith Moon
sorry but i never rated him as a drummer, he must have been an absolute nightmare to play with

Re: Keith Moon
Having read "Dear Boy" (biography by Tony Fletcher) years ago, Keith Moon was far more complex than widely accepted.

Brilliant drummer, but constantly unhappy. Destroyed things, yet adopted a the "plummy accent" of early Who manager Kit Lambert to appear "posh". Pete Townshend once said: "our job is to keep him off the booze, and stay on the drums." And Townshend himself was spiralling into alcoholism at the time. That's how bad it got.

Strange man, Keith Moon. Love his work, but must have been a nightmare to live with on a daily basis.

Wonder if Curbs knew him well? Brother Bill Curbishley was The Who's manager in the 70s.

Re: Keith Moon
Reed stopped knocking around with Moon because he was too much. That tells you all you need to know.

Anyway, I raised a glass in his honour today.

Yup. Or the PDC of the team.

Bungo

I think part of Moon's appeal was anything could happen at any time. Had the Who been a football team Moon would have been the dodgy keeper who could be greatvon his day.

I'm sure I read a piece with Townshend once that said that playing with Moon made his guitar playing less extravagant and more rhythmic as he needed to help hold the beat down as Moon wasn't!

Re: Keith Moon
As has been said he could be all over the place but he somehow made it work. He and Bonham have always been my favourite drummers and i have been lucky enough to have seen both of them live. I also saw the definitive E Street band line up in 82 and Max Weinberg will go down as one of the great drummers if our time.

Love the fact that Moon had his cans gaffa taped to his head.

Only way they were going to stay put.

Re: Keith Moon
That is fantastic Geoff

It a brilliant collective performance but the bass playing is astonishing.

‘They should've jacked it in when Moon bought the farm’

You could probably say that for most bands, that continued after losing a key player.

I used to drink in The Anglers in Teddington where their exploits were legendary, including holing up in one of their houses now and then with crates of whisky for drinking competitions. Loser was the first to be taken to hospital.

Bit before my time unfortunately.

He died shortly after this. Even now, an incredible performance, by all. "Won't Get Fooled Again" 1978. THIS is ROCK.

The Who died when Moon died.

He wasn't the most techical and could be a bit all over the place but it really worked because The Ox held the whole band together.

Gavros 8:57 Fri Aug 23
Re: Keith Moon
He lived down the road from oliver reed.

Bet they had one or two big nights in.
